It's Fire Prevention Month ! Here's a friendly reminder to give your home a little safety check this week:
Smoke alarms: Press the test button on every alarm-do this monthly, and replace alarms when they're 10 years old.
Dryer vent: Clean the lint filter after every load, and check that the vent and outside opening aren't blocked by lint or debris.
Fire extinguisher: Make sure it's easy to reach, check the pressure gauge if it has one, and follow the label's maintenance instructions.
Escape plan: Walk through two ways out of each room, where possible, and choose a meeting spot outside that everyone knows.
Space heaters: Keep them at least 3 feet from anything that can burn, and turn them off before leaving the room or going to bed.
Your home holds the people and things you love most. A few simple checks are worth making time for.
